Charles Leclerc landed in F1 in 2018 with Sauber, after winning back-to-back championships in GP3 and Formula 2. The Monégasque driver often drove his Sauber beyond its limits, which secured him a seat at Ferrari in 2019, replacing Kimi Raikkonen and became the second-youngest driver to take a pole position at the 2019 Bahrain Grand prix. Leclerc’s success in 2019 continued at the Belgium Grand Prix where he took his first F1 career win, shortly followed by another just a week later on Ferrari’s home turf in Monza, as well as becoming the youngest driver ever to win the FIA Pole Trophy for the most pole positions in the 2019 season.
Whilst the 2020 and 2021 seasons were not particularly strong for Ferrari, Leclerc stayed determined and emerged as a true title contender in 2022 – with 3 wins, 11 podiums and 9 pole positions, Leclerc was the only driver able to consistently battle with Max Verstappen over the season. It is without a doubt that the Monégasque driver his making both his late father and Jules Bianchi proud.
