Augusto Fernandez made his Moto2 debut in 2017 at the Italian Grand Prix replacing Axel Bassani for the Speed Up team. He remained with the team until the end of the season. In 2018, he didn’t originally start in Moto2 but was called up to replace Hector Barbera at Pons Racing. He scored a best finish of 4th place and finished the season in 18th overall. In 2019 he moved to the Flexbox HP40 Team. He scored a total of 5 podiums including 2 wins and finished in 5th overall. For the 2020 season, he moved to the Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS and he finished the season in 13th overall. In 2021, Fernandez moved to the Elf Marc VDS Racing Team where he scored 6 podiums and finished in 5th overall once again. 

2022 was the best season for Fernandez as he was racing for Red Bull KTM Ajo. He achieved 9 podiums including 4 wins to win the championship. For the 2023 season Fernandez moved up to MotoGP as the sole rookie. Fernandez took a p4 finish in 2023 as his best and hopes to better that in 2024.
