Richard Verschoor made his Formula 2 debut in 2021 with MP Motorsport and had to fight to retain his seat for that year as his deal was only for the Bahrain round. He picked up his first F2 win during the second sprint race at Silverstone. A difficult end to the season for the team meant that Verschoor was replaced by Jack Doohan for the last two rounds however, due to the absence of injured Enzo Fittipaldi, Verschoor was able to compete in the final round of the season with the Charouz Racing System team. 

Verschoor moved to Trident Racing for the 2022 season. The Dutch driver had a strong start to the season with a win in the first sprint race of the season and his first feature race podium during the second round in Jeddah. The middle of the season was tainted by some bad luck, but Verschoor managed to score more points towards the end of the season and ended the year 12th in the standings. For the 2023 season, Verschoor will make the move to the Dutch team Van Amersfoot Racing where he partners Juan Manuel Correa.
