George Russell's Formula 1 career began in 2017 when he becamse the third member of the Mercedes AMG F1 Young Driver Programme.

After winning the 2017 GP3 and 2018 FIA Formula 2 championship, Russell graduated to Formula 1 the following year where he joined Robert Kubica at Williams Racing.

Whilst fulfilling his duties as Williams Racing Formula 1 driver, Russell still worked closely alongside Mercedes and in 2020, he was given the opportunity to race in the Merecedes seat.

Lewis Hamilton became unwell with Covid-19 prior to the 2020 Sakhir Grand Prix which led to George Russell filling in for him.

It was a stellar performance from Russell who proved his speed and talent and despite a disappointing race result, was pipped for the Mercedes seat.

In 2022, Russell was promoted to Mercedes where he still races now. He's now collected his first trophies and despite the disappointing car, has managed to outperform his car time and time again.
