bio:

Francesco Bagnaia was born in Turin and had a successful start to his career early on. He won the European MiniGP championship in 2009 and made his pre-GP Mediterranean championship debut in 2010 where he finished 2nd in the championship. He then competed in the 2011 Spanish Championship in the 125cc category where he would finish 3rd in the championship. In 2012, Bagnaia competed in the 2012 CEV Moto3 season where he would once again finish 3rd in the championship. Bagnaia would go on to be recruited to be a part of the VR46 rider academy. 

 

Bagnaia made his Moto3 debut in 2013. His first year in Moto3 was disappointing with a best finish on 16thplace. In 2014, he rode for the newly formed VR46 team and would go on to improve on his rookie season in Moto3 with a best finish of 4th place. He remained in Moto3 for 2015 and made another team change, this time he moved over to the Aspar Team. He secured his first podium finish in France and would go on to finish the year in 14th. 2016 was Bagnaia’s most successful Moto3 season with 6 podiums including 2 wins. In 2017, Bagnaia made the move up to Moto2 and had a much more successful debut season with 4 podiums and finishing 5th in the standings. 2018 was the year Bagnaia claimed his Moto2 championship with 12 podiums including 8 wins. In 2019, Bagnaia made his MotoGP debut riding for the Pramac Ducati team where he would remain for his first two MotoGP seasons. He claimed his first MotoGP podium in Italy in 2020. Bagnaia moved up to the Factory Ducati team in 2021 and would claim his first race win in Aragon that year, he would also go on to finish 2nd in the championship. 2022 was Bagnaia’s best year with a tough start and then a monumental comeback with 10 podiums including 7 wins resulting in him winning the championship.
