Aleix Espargaro was born in Granollers and is by far the most experienced rider on the current MotoGP grid. Prior to his Grand Prix career he won the 2004 Spanish FIM CEV International Championship 125cc class. Espargaro made his MotoGP debut in 2009 after taking part in a handful of races in the to replace injured riders. He was signed for the Pramac team for the 2010 season and completed his first full MotoGP season. In 2011, he moved to Moto2 but he returned to MotoGP for the 2012 season. Between 2012 and 2014, Espargaro finished as the top CRT rider showing that he was able to be a strong and consistent rider. 

 

Espargaro moved to the Suzuki Ecstar Team where he had another two strong and fairly consistent seasons. In 2017. The Spaniard moved to the Aprilia Racing Team Gresini. For the first few seasons on the Aprilia, Espargaro was a strong finisher in the points consistently throughout the season. In 2021, Espargaro gave Aprilia their first MotoGP podium at the Silverstone round. He also gave Aprilia their first MotoGP race win at the third round of the 2022 season in Argentina. 2022 was Espargaro’s best season to date, with a first win and staying in the championship fight for most of the season, he finished 4th overall.
