Brad Binder started his Grand Prix career in the 125cc class in 2011 where he rode for RW Racing GP. In 2012 he remained with the team but switched from the Aprilia to the Kalex KTM. Binder switched teams and rode for Abrogio racing during both the 2013 and 2014 seasons and would start to improve on his results and be much more consistent. In 2015 Binder made the switch to the KTM factory supported Ajo Motorsport team and he had a positive first season with the team. He remained with the team for 2016 and with 14 podiums including 7 wins he took the championship victory.

In 2017, Binder made the move up to Moto2 continuing with the Red Bull KTM Ajo team. He achieved 3 podiums in his first year and continued to improve. In 2018, he scored 3 wins and finished 3rd overall, and in 2019 he took 9 podiums including 5 wins and finished 2nd in the championship just 3 points behind Alex Marquez. The South African made his MotoGP debut with the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team in 2020 and took his very first win at the third round of the season. This was also KTM’s first premier class win. 2021 was a tough year for KTM but Binder proved that he was consistent with top 10 and top 5 finishes on Sunday. He quickly became known as the ‘Sunday Man’ for being able to salvage an impressive result from a poor qualifying position. Binder’s most memorable win comes from the Austrian Grand Prix in 2021 when rain began to fall with 5 laps left. Binder decided to gamble and stay out with slick tyres when others dived into pit lane to change to wets and despite extremely slick conditions on track, Binder was able to defy the odds and take the victory.
